"The bells are cast" from Muravyov's cycle of works "Moscow Words"

."The bells are cast, so the news is dismissed"
Moscow has long been famous for its bells, and the bell factories of the capital in the 19th century were considered the best in Russia. Moscow bell makers proudly reported: "This bell was cast in the reigning city of Moscow." Most of the factories were located behind the Sukharev Tower, but it wasn't just the constant ringing of bells that was a distinctive feature of this Moscow district... Domna Evstignevna Belotelova, a bored merchant widow, asks Akulina Gavrilovna Krasavina, a matchmaker. To which the matchmaker responds to her: - You never know what the conversation is, but you can't believe everything. Sometimes the bell is rung, and the rumor is deliberately spread to make it ring louder. In this scene from the play "The Marriage of Balzaminov," A.N. Ostrovsky talks about an ancient Moscow custom, the ritual of bell casters. Before starting to cast a new bell to make it ring, it was necessary to spread some ridiculous rumor around Moscow, and the sooner it spread, the more resonant the bell would be. Gullible Muscovites usually believed such rumors, which were spread from Sukharevka, passed them from mouth to mouth, but sometimes, after hearing some completely impossible nonsense, they still spoke doubtfully.: "The bell is probably being rung."
So, over time, the Moscow expression "pouring bells" or simply "pouring in" began to mean making up, lying boastfully, fantasizing, telling nonsense – "it's you, brother, pouring in."
