Composition from the series "Moscow words" based on the work of V.Muravyov

In the middle of the 19th century, the expression "give a tip" appeared. Before that, additional money for any services was given "for drinks" or, more specifically, "for vodka", but the Moscow love of tea made its own changes to this custom. "In Moscow, they rarely ask for vodka, always for tea," wrote a contemporary. Over time, the expression "give a tip", "tip" went beyond Moscow and became commonly used.
