The Littel Prince
The Littel Prince

The diploma project is an illustrated edition of The Little Prince intended for school‑age children.

The work explores how visual imagery helps children not just comprehend the text but also emotionally engage with the story. Illustrations support children’s imagination and make abstract concepts — such as friendship, responsibility, and loneliness — more tangible and emotionally relatable. To achieve this, the research draws on the fundamentals of child psychology and the specifics of children’s perception: how a child interprets composition, colour, and a character’s posture, and where they seek visual support when the text seems challenging.

This theoretical framework informed the visual language of the book. The stylistic choices, the rhythm of the spreads, and the focal points were designed to work in synergy with the text — to enhance its meaning rather than merely duplicate it. The project includes the complete layout of the publication from scratch: from character sketches (the Little Prince, the Fox, the Rose, the Pilot) to page composition and preparation for printing.

The project combines artistic practice with a considered approach to the child audience: the illustrations function as a tool for understanding and establishing a dialogue with the young reader.
