This underground passage on Bolshaya Sadovaya leads to the opposite side of the street — that is, it allows you to cross from one bank to the other. On the other bank, you can reach “Zolotoy Kolos,” one of the oldest confectionery enterprises in southern Russia, founded in 1954. And if you cross Budyonnovsky Prospekt via the passage, then on one side of Bolshaya Sadovaya you’ll find the “House of Books,” and on the other — the S. V. Rachmaninoff Conservatory, which my niece Anna graduated from and which is currently resounding with music at the Musical Theatre.
