сеттинг 1:

I see the asteroid colonies in FFTS and similar as basically going through something of an economic crisis. Most were originally founded for mining purposes, but advances in technology have meant that few are still viable for this. So they are looking for new ways to earn a living. (This is broadly the situation on the real Scilly Isles, on which my asteroids are based, which have gone through several iterations of changing economic fortunes and have needed to reinvent themselves each time). So the basic scene is of equipment, machinery, and open spaces which were originally industrial and have since been repurposed for a different use. But nobody has the time, energy or resources to dismantle the old stuff and replace. Here’s a short description from part of Timing:

Like a lot of older buildings on the Scilly Isles, the warehouse that Rydal and her friends were using had once been part of a mining enterprise. It used to hold machine parts, and both the doors and internal space were oversized accordingly. Part numbers and schematics had been scribbled all the way up the wall racks. Down at the other end of the room the new hub equipment and signalling subsystem sat waiting for us, dwarfed by the surroundings. Slate and I got to work.

So in terms of artwork, think The Expanse or even some aspects of Star Wars, rather than Star Trek – the last of these is too glossy and well-maintained for my world.

On a broader scale the various colonies are largely self-governing, even anarchic – Earth cannot maintain any sort of real control over them because of the lag in journey time. Again not all that different from The Expanse, though I have avoided any focus on military action as it doesn’t especially interest me. Although the main characters of FFTS work for an Earth-based organisation, they act predominantly on their own initiative rather than being supervised all the time.

As to the concept art, I imagine three basic atmospheres: One is a Greek temple on Mount Olympus, where the sun always shines. It should be big, with twelve thrones in a circle, and rainbow steps leading to the entrance. It should be clear that this is on a mountain with clouds maybe in the distance. This would be the first scene. It would be great if my player can interact with the twelve Olympians. If not all twelve, then perhaps Zeus, Hades, Poseidon, Aphrodite, and Persephone. I can provide descriptions for the Olympians if needed (one error I see often by artists is making Zeus appear to be the oldest, when he's actually the youngest brother of the Olympians).

The second atmosphere would be a large golden apple tree with a 100-headed green serpent/dragon coiled around the branches (protecting Hera's apples). Three beautiful nymphs sleep at the base of the huge tree (among its large, gnarly roots), also serving as guards (distractions). The surrounding landscape is a secret garden. (Hera keeps her golden apples protected because she was told by Gaia that her marriage to Zeus would last as long as there are apples on this tree.)

The final atmosphere would be cavernous. This atmophere can serve as a labyrinth in the Minotaur scene, the underground tunnels and sinkholes where the Hydra dwells, and the Underworld. Underground caves with winding tunnels predominate this atmosphere.
